Moore Town Community, Lower Buchanan – September 10, 2025
The National Program Coordinator of the Grassroots Agency for Social Services (GRASS), Mr. Barley Togba, has called on the youth of Moore Town in Lower Buchanan, Grand Bassa County to take ownership of a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Center that is slated for construction in their community. His remarks were made during the official launch of TVET awareness activities held at the Moore Town Community Town Hall.
Mr. Togba announced that the awareness campaign will run through the end of December. He emphasized that the initiative—implemented by the United Nations Infrastructure Development Organization (UNIDO) with funding from the European Union (EU)—aims to equip young people with practical skills to boost their employability and economic empowerment. He commended the EU for its continued support to Liberia’s education sector and urged the youth to seize the opportunity being brought to their doorstep.
The launch event drew a diverse crowd, including youth, elders, women, and community leaders. Representing Zone Six, which encompasses several communities, Mr. Francis I.E. Davis expressed gratitude to the EU for its support and he officially launched the awareness activities in Buchanan.
Several young people in attendance voiced their enthusiasm about the upcoming center, describing it as a long-awaited opportunity to acquire marketable skills. The community’s youth leader pledged that local youth would safeguard construction materials and ensure the center is protected, declaring that the community would not allow any misuse of the project this time.
Community leaders also pledged their full cooperation, assuring GRASS and its partners that they would encourage youth participation and work collectively to protect the facility and maximize its impact.
